Performance Requirements |
The candidate must achieve a 100 percent success rate. All the following points are PASS/FAIL points. In case the candidate fails one point then he/she will be asked to redo the performance after 24 hours. If the candidate fails the performance the second time as well, he/she is not given a third chance during the same IC. He/she will then get a completion form and can redo the failed performance within a year with another IT or Master Instructor. Should a candidate fail more than 2 performances twice, the candidate will fail the entire IC.
All the Performance Requirements where the Candidate have to use fins should be done with BI-FINS.
Performance requirements:
o Dive to minimum 40m
o Dive to 30m lasting for a minimum of 1.30 minutes*
o Rescue from to 15m and hang for an unknown time, then rescue a freediver from BO from that depth
o Stamina test- max 1 min preparation, 5 dives to 20m with 1 min surface interval
o Rescue from 25m (20) followed by recovery at surface and 50 metre tow
o Static breath hold - minimum 4 minutes
o Demonstration of other disciplines; DNF- no minimum requirement*
o Demonstration of other disciplines; CNF- no minimum requirement*
o Demonstration of other disciplines; VW - no minimum requirement*
* optional for AIDA Instructor Crossover
If they are unable to achieve this due to equalisation problems then they may retake the performance requirements at a later date in the presence of any AIDA Instructor Trainer or Master Instructor.
Written Exams |
AIDA 2, 3 and 4 star exams:
The Candidates must achieve at least a 90% pass rate in each exam. They will have a maximum one hour and a half to complete all these exams.
oIf they get a mark below 90% they will have to wait 24 hours before they can retake it.
oIf they get a pass mark below 90% at the second attempt then they will fail the entire course, and will not be allowed to continue the course.
oIt is the responsibility of the candidates to fully familiarise themselves with the 2-4 star courses.
Final Exam Part 1 and part 2:
The Candidates must achieve a 75% pass rate on each part. They have one hour and a half to complete each part of the exam.
oIf they get a mark below 75% on any of the parts, then they will have to wait 24 hours before they can retake this part of the exam.
oIf they get a pass mark below 85% at the second attempt on any of the parts, then they will fail the entire course.
oIf the Candidate fails one or both parts of the Exam the second time as well, he/she is not given a third chance during the same IC. He/she will then get a completion form and can retake the failed exam within a year with another IT.
If a student suffers from dyslexia or any other form of learning disability then it is their responsibility to inform the instructor trainer in advance so that they can arrange for them to take their exam orally and/or over a longer period of time
Practical Exams |
The candidate needs to have a minimum of 3 as an average score on each Practical Exam to pass the Exam. (Mark every point with 1-5: 1=very poor, 2=poor, 3= good, 4=very good, 5=extraordinary) Some points are PASS/FAIL points, which the candidates MUST pass. In case they the fail the Practical Exam, they will be asked to redo it after 24 hours.
If the candidate fails the Practical Exam the second time as well, he/she is not given a third chance during the same IC.
He/she will then get a completion form and can retake the failed exam within a year with another IT. Should a candidate fail more than 2 practical exams twice,
the candidate will fail the entire IC.
All the Practical Teaching Exams (listed below) where the Candidate have to use fins should be done with BI-FINS.
